Digging This Style: National Dog Day

August 26 is National Dog Day!  Ideally, I’d like to spend National Dog Day at the beach with about a hundred dogs. Unfortunately, the closest ocean is about five hours away from me.  So my sister, Alice Patterson, put together this fun flat lay with a beachy feel.

National Dog Day was created to raise awareness about the inhumane conditions of puppy mills.  Please don’t support pet stores that sell puppies and kittens or buy a pet online!

That collar is gorgeous!

I had to hit the “submit” button to allow typing in the box… but anyway, fun post! The color scheme and the products are great!

Monica says:

I didn’t know about this! I will be celebrating by spending time with my pup, Anzu!

Lori Hilliard says:

The fishing lure is adorable! It looks like it’s made of terrycloth or something similar, which my dog would love. Anything that’s soft and rough at the same time appeals to him.

Paroma says:

I love the “who let the dogs out” print:-) def thinking of getting it!

We love to cuddle! Walk are fun too, but cuddling is where it’s at.

Shayla says:

I love this! I was trying to decide what I was going to do with my office now that we moved it into the room next to our master. This gives me some ideas 😉

My favorite activities with Ruby are cuddling on the couch. Whenever I get up early to write, she gets up with me and keeps me company. Also, loves walks and picnics with her.

What a totally adorable flat lay!

    Beth says:

    Thanks, Susannah!

Oh a beach day would be lovely but we went a few weeks ago and while not quite as far as you, it’s still a bit of a drive. Mr. N will have to make do with a long walk and some ice cream maybe!

    Beth says:

That sounds like a great way to spend National Dog Day!

Bettina says:

I feel lucky to live 20 minutes from the beach – we looove going to beach.
Cute flatlay! Love the little fish 🙂

    Beth says:

I’m always a tiny envious when I see your Instagram photos of the dogs on the beach!

I always sing that song when I take the dogs out because it makes my daughters laugh. I love playing fetch with my dogs. To do so at our beach is just icing on the cake!

    Beth says:

    You are so lucky!

Oh fun! I love that! What an awesome way to spend National Dog Day! Also, thanks for the memo because I always seem to miss all the fun “holidays”. lol

    Beth says:

I miss a lot of them too! I hope your family enjoyed the day together!

I love everything about this theme! That collar is adorable and a great reminder that the Golden’s collars need updating! lol

    Beth says:

You will LOVE the collars at Mattie + Margot, they are really special.

This is such a nice way to celebrate this special day. Your picture is beautiful! I will admit though, I didn’t know the purpose for National Dog Day was to shine the light on the inhumane conditions in puppy mills. I feel dumb admitting that. Quite honestly, if this is the case, I will approach my images and posts accordingly next year. Thank you for highlighting a VERY important issue.

Happy belated National Dog Day! Oh the Dad and Mom are big fans of the beach!

These toys are adorable and I love the theme. They’re the perfect way to spend a day at the beach with your dog.

This is so cute! I love the feel of it. Our favorite activities with Icy & Phoebe are Hiking and hitting the Beach!

Both my dogs and both of my cats (all the pets haha!) are from the shelter or strays, so national dog day definitely means a lot for us! We spent it inside because of the rain from hurricane harvey, but had a good play session!

Such a fun photo! Hope you had a wonderful National Dog Day with your pup! We enjoy hikes, special treats, and lots of games of fetch!

Debbie says:

Love the flat lay! Can I join you on the beach with 100 dogs?? That sounds amazing! 🙂

I love spending quiet time with the girls loving on them. I’m visiting a friend this weekend and enjoying the company of her toy Poodle.

I love this. I have two cats and no dogs, but as soon as we get a house, we will get a dog!

    Beth says:

    Oh, that will be exciting!

I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen a blue Kong. Loving the theme though, im told my favorite color is no longer green but blue(our 5-yr old daughter tells me so)

    Beth says:

    Kids always know!

Karen says:

Like the fish lure toy! I used to live within 90 minutes of the beach and rarely went. Now that I live in the Midwest, I am so missing the beach! Like taking long walks with my dogs. Good exercise for all of us!

I too always find myself seeking time at the beach! These items are great to bring the beach closer to home. Thanks for sharing them!

Ooooh I am loving all of these things! I think Atka needs a new collar 😉

    Beth says:

    The quality is extraordinary!

Happy National Dog Day. We love the beach too and this is a great theme. Lots of great stuff.

I love that. What a great decoration that would make in a beach house!
