Great points! As a pet parent with two angel cats and a volunteer, I can attest that many people don’t consider adopting a pet a LIFELONG commitment. It’s so sad to hear stories of families giving back a pet to a shelter or nonprofit because they don’t fit into their lifestyle or going on vacation. Pets are family and if one is looking to adopt consider a pet’s breed, history, personality, etc and understand the adopting process is a commitment for life. Pets are not like clothing with a money-back guarantee and shouldn’t be treated as such.

It’s important to research the breed of a dog or cat prior to adopting. If you are going to a shelter or a rescue, it’s important to see how well the dog/cat reacts to you. I’ve experienced that pets usually pick out their new people. Thank you for sharing.

These pups are so adorable and the photos are excellent, especially because black dogs are so hard to photograph – Triceratops has my heart. In the next few years I want to adopt a third dog, I’m thinking it would have to be a male because females notoriously have trouble getting along, and I already have two ladies. They really do get along better with males.
