]]> It is easy to get caught up in enjoying the three-day Memorial Day weekend and celebrating the beginning of summer.  However, I think it is important to remember why this day was set aside:  to remember those who died while serving our country and to honor those who have been in the military. From Gagan:  “I am in the U.S Army, and I was deployed last year to Afghanistan for 9 months.   These photos were taken in Afghanistan, and these photos are of real heroes who sacrifice so much to serve their country and its citizens.   The dog in the photograph is a Military Working Dog aka MWR.   These dogs have a very important job and are treated and respected just like a soldier.  Each dog has one handler and sleeps with the soldier to who it is assigned to.  “
