From Dailey:  “Finn is a two-year-old Irish Setter.  He loves popcorn, snuggles, and having his chin scratched!

His favorite treats are carrots, popcorn, and bacon.

Finn has what we loving call a blonde ‘mullet.’ It gets super blonde over the summer when he’s in the sun! And sometimes even grows long enough to give him a ‘man bun.’

He has a little dachshund brother, Sully, that rules the house.

Always supervise your dogs around a pool!

Finn is the happy go lucky type. He’s literally afraid of his own shadow but nothing makes him happier than meeting new friends and having his head pet!

Finn loves playing in the foam at the beach as the water runs up the sand. 

When Finn rides in the car if he doesn’t have his head out the window, he’ll have his head resting on your shoulder.

Finn thinks he’s a lap dog! He’ll come into my office and climb up into my lap when I’m working at my desk!

1.   Research to find the perfect breed and temperament for your lifestyle, find the perfect dog online, go in and meet the dog.
2.   Decide you are ready to add a dog to the family, visit shelters, and wait until you meet the right dog.
3.   Randomly see a dog in the shelter or online and realize you have to bring it home. Even though you weren’t looking to adopt a dog.

Katie fell into the third category when she was just a teenager.   A  young Shepherd-Husky mix, Aedean, caught her eye and then her heart in a matter of minutes.  Although  Katie Jean is primarily a wedding photographer, Aedan might be her favorite subject.

From Katie:  “Aedan is our 9-year-old rescue. He is a Shepherd-Husky mix. He has been the greatest thing that has happened to me and my fiance Dylan. We rescued him when we were only 18, and he was six months. We were visiting the county shelter helping my Dad look for a dog after my parents got divorced. I saw Aedan out of the corner of my eye, took him out of the cage, and carried him to my car. I knew at that moment I wasn’t leaving him there. Our first moments together were so strong my Dad or the employees at the shelter didn’t even question me. I ended up not even having to pay his adoption fee; they just let me take him. He was in really bad shape- malnourished, ribs showing, fearful aggression to strangers, and separation anxiety. He had been previously abused and was left at the shelter after a police report.  I will never forget on the drive home, my fiance (boyfriend at the time) sat in the back seat with him and Aedan just laid in his lap being so thankful. Ever since then he has slept in the bed with us, right in the middle on his own pillow. He is an extension of our hearts and has made us better people. It took us about five years to get him to the point where strangers could approach him. He learned so quickly but needed to have his trust built back up. Today at nine years old, he travels EVERYWHERE with us, gets so much attention, and is the best-behaved dog I have ever had.

Every time we go out, someone always approaches us or comments on how beautiful he is, and asks  ‘is he a puppy?’ His personality is absolutely wild. Aedan runs laps around our apartment at all hours of the day. He loves swimming, running, and visiting cafes. He is the best dog ever.”

It always makes me happy to see photos of a well-loved pet, but it is especially great when the person is a professional photographer. Photographer Delaney Dobson adopted Nash, the adorable mixed breed puppy in 2017.   All of that cuteness eventually transformed into a very handsome dog.

From Delaney: “Nash is a rambunctious rescue who loves to cuddle and play fetch with his mom and dad. He is an only puppy with a true ‘mutt’ nature. According to his little DNA test, Nash is part Lab, American Staffordshire Terrier,  Parson Russell Terrier and 25% unknown! But they claim that he is a Herding Terrier Hound…I think that is a pretty accurate sum up of our little man. Born of Thanksgiving Day, Nash will eat anything, whether it be daddy’s work shoes or mama’s bath towels. He celebrated his first birthday this November with a little turkey and mashed potato pie (dog-friendly of course!)  My hubby and I have had him about a year, and it has been a wonderful process watching him grow and learn. He’s no longer the seven-pound puppy he was and has reached almost 50 pounds, much more than originally thought. He’s healthy, happy, and loves to play.  We got him as a puppy and had an amazing experience with WAGS. The company works solely with volunteer foster families, so no doggie is left in a kennel.”

From Carly:  “Daisy Doofus:  she’s wild, she’s a little crazy, but mostly she’s lovable, even when she’s naughty.

My husband was living in Colorado for work while I was living in South Dakota. It was a long distance marriage for our first year as a newlywed. To top it off, we were also expecting our first daughter, Elsie. Tom, my husband, decided to surprise me with Daisy. She was the best surprise I could have asked for. A great companion for me while my husband was away, a great workout buddy to get me out of the house and walk and a great cuddle buddy with my growing belly.

Daisy is a nervous nelly,  a high-strung dog who likes to get her nose in everything.

We sometimes get frustrated with her, but she’s still a little young and has a lot of learning to do yet. I love seeing how she acts with Elsie, our daughter. She doesn’t mind it when Elsie shares her dog bed. I’m so excited to see these two grow to be the best of friends.

Daisy is so full of love. She’s a wonderful addition to our family, and I’m so happy with the memories we’ve been able to share, and I’m looking forward to many more with this sweet pup.”

From Ryan:  “Meet Charlotte, the 1-year-old mini Aussie. Her dog dad wanted to get her a special cake for her 1st birthday, so we went to a cute little local dog bakery and got a pink cake.

Her older brother, Leo, wanted in on the fun (but mostly the cake) so he photobombed a few of her birthday photos. 

She loves snuggling in the morning,  hanging her head out the car window, and playing with her brother Leo.  Charlotte hardly will leave your side and is really good at playing catch.”
