Not only does is Louis adorable, but I love all the accessories, including a dog-friendly cake from The R&B Treatlist.

Sara (the photographer at Vanility) named her studio after her Labrador Retriever, Vanilla.

From Sara:  “There aren’t many places, except for dog parks, where you can take your pets to play and enjoy together. The Vanility Studio has been specifically designed for pets and their parents in mind, making the perfect place to spend time out together as a family, creating hilarious and loving memories out of moments. 

We have lots of fun design props and clothing props for humans and pets.  Shannen (The R&B Treatlist) is our go-to for Barkday cakes for Vanility Photoshoots.

From Liah:  “Louis is a social butterfly with paws. He exhibits the most friendly and likable personality. Many people told me that this characteristic would be diluted once he is out of the puppy phase. However, that has not happened in the slightest. Being our first family dog, we were quite nervous at the beginning about how to transition into a pet-friendly home.

We soon found that Louis has been the best source of happiness in our lives as he continually elevates our mood on a daily basis and unknowingly helped our mental health while we were struggling. Every single morning he greets our family members as if it is the first time he has seen them. Whenever Louis encounters new people or any animals – he starts to grin widely and moves his tail uncontrollably. He cannot contain his excitement, and he jumps up and down and around in circles with happiness. It is impossible not to fall in love with him at first sight. Both friends and family members (and sometimes strangers on the street) tell me that they became animal lovers upon meeting Louis. His warmth radiates out of him. He loves every race, gender, age, human, or animal. We should all strive to be like Louis.

We decided to join Vanility Pet Photography Studio for a Barkday Shoot simply because we wanted a bright and happy place to commemorate Louis’s first birthday. Upon doing a brief research on social media and pet photography portfolios on many different pet photographers in Toronto, we truly believe that Vanility captured Louis’s warm personality based on the above-mentioned characteristics he possesses. Vanility promised and delivered on such expectations, and we were blown away by the results.”

From Ali:  “Lindsey wanted to capture every special moment with her furry best friend’s 12th birthday.”

From Lindsey:  “I got Lucky when I was 19 years old. I was literally a baby. But I always wanted a golden retriever. So when I had finally saved enough money and was ready, I was so excited to finally pick him out. The day I went to pick him out, I noticed him instantly. He was much smaller than his siblings because he was the runt of the litter, but he was so calm and sweet.

I just knew he was my dog. At that time, he was too young for me to take home because he was only a few weeks old. So Before I left, the breeder asked me what I was going to name him as she was placing this little blue bow around his neck to indicate that he had been picked, and when I told her his name would be Lucky, she wrote ‘Lucky’ on his ribbon and told me she would start calling him by that name. It was a really sweet and proud moment for me. It may sound cliché, but he’s been my best friend for almost 13 years.

He’s been there through so many coming-of-age moments, such as being fired or getting that job you hoped for, probably 15 different moves in or out of state, so many bad decisions, and a lot of good decisions and so many difficult times. When I got a dog at 19, I was way too young to fully comprehend the gravity of responsibility of which I was taking on. I just thought, ‘I’m getting a really cute dog, I can take him on hikes and stuff,’ but there were times it was really hard. I had been out of my parents’ house before I was out of high school, so there were many lessons I learned the hard way.

There were times when I had to make certain sacrifices that my friends or other people my age didn’t have to make because I had this responsibility to make sure he was cared for. I missed out on things in life, such as places to live or trips or staying out late as the rest of my friends were some nights because I had to go home to feed him or take him out. There were times I could hardly afford dog food because I couldn’t afford my rent, so I was feeding him before myself. But he has always been there.

He’s been that one stable variable in my life that I could count on in times when that was what I really needed. And now that I’m older and I look back on all the craziness we endured together, it makes me appreciate him more than I can explain. We got through it together, and we counted on each other. I’ve had him for a third of my life, and sometimes that trips me out.

Lucky has just been the greatest gift from the universe. He’s such a special dog, and everyone who knows him can attest to that. I feel very lucky to have him. No pun intended. He’s such a good boy. For me, he hasn’t just been a pet. He’s been someone to hold me accountable and has been a support system. That’s why I had those photos done. I wanted to have something nice to remember him by when one day he isn’t here anymore.”

From Jenn:  “How fast the year has gone by! Daisy is still super sweet, goofy, and still a bit lazy at times. But she loves to play ball or frisbee with my six-year-old twins in the backyard! Daisy is also your typical stick loving dog! She actually prefers sticks to play with a ball.

For her birthday, we set up a cake smash for her. My girls and I made her a dog-friendly cake, blew up some balloons, and customized her party hat to feature a Daisy that we used from Daisy’s 1st photoshoot. Daisy somehow knew it was her birthday and LOVED us singing Happy Birthday to her! Our 14-year-old chocolate lab (Daisy’s actual great aunt) even joined in for some cake.”

From Autumn:  “Brittany adopted Delilah, a Border Collie, after seeing her on Facebook.  Delilah had three different owners to that point when she was around three months old, and Brittany wanted to give her a stable, loving home. Delilah quickly won over Brittany’s heart, and they are inseparable. With Delilah’s 2nd birthday being on Dec. 20, Brittany wanted to celebrate with a photo session.  We met at a local park and just allowed Delilah to explore while I photographed.   Brittany brought along a beautiful tutu for Delilah.

I decided to surprise Brittany and Delilah by baking a dog smash cake myself, including delicious whipped cream topping, which she loved. We had a ton of fun at a local park they like to explore, as Delilah celebrated her birthday in style.”
