Happy Tails: Roxie the West Highland Terrier

Some of my favorite childhood memories include dogs. Which is probably why this session from pet photographer Mandy Whitley makes me so happy. Roxie, the West Highland Terrier, and her favorite person, Riley, seem to share a very special bond.

From Mandy: “Riley’s parents wanted to capture her 12th birthday and her pup’s 1st birthday in a photo session that we did at Smith park outside of Nashville.

You can clearly see the love these two have for each other.

Riley has the best red hair and freckles, and Roxie is a sweet Westie who loves food and playing with a tennis ball.”

Happy Tails: Rudy the Maltese-Havanese Mix

First birthdays are a big deal. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the first year of life than with photos of the whole family. I am especially happy to see that Rudy, the Maltese-Havanese mix, played a prominent role in these photos by Nashville photographer, Mandy Whitley.

From Mandy: “Brittany brought some fun props to help capture Nate’s first birthday including balloons and a chalkboard. We also included a vintage wagon and red tricycle.

They also brought their sweet Maltese/Havanese Rudy and he brought a lot of fun to the session! Rudy was named after Issac’s favorite movie.”

Focus: Ollie the Sheltie Mix

This past weekend I attended a family reunion and was struck by just how quickly time flies! I flipped through the scrapbook and saw photos of my family from 15 years ago. Some of my nieces and nephews have children of their own, and sadly many of our loved ones are no longer with us. While I don’t remember who snapped the photos, I am grateful for them! I think these photos by Courtney Moyer of Serendipity Photography will become even more precious as the years go by.

From Courtney: “We adopted Ollie from Rocky Mountain Collie and Sheltie Rescue in Denver. We live in Ohio, so it was a process to get him to us. But it was worth it because he is perfect for our family.

He is the most gentle spirit– he is an old soul in a puppy body. Ollie just adores our 2 and 3-year-old kids! Ollie comes alive with other dogs- he loves to play and befriends every dog he meets.

He loves snow – those Colorado roots are strong! He turned a year old on April 1.

We are so lucky to have him as part of our family!”

I am pretty sure Ollie considers himself lucky to be part of the Moyer family.

Focus: Flounder the Yellow Lab

Previously, I featured Alani, who belongs with photographer Jamie Lucido. This series of Jamie’s other dog, a yellow Lab named Flounder is just as endearing! Please remember to supervise small children and pets!

From Jamie: “This is our blonde lab, Flounder. We rescued her from a farm in Alabama, where she was left outside 24/7 with her other puppy siblings. We traded her owner a shotgun and brought her home to live a life of play and cuddles, inside with us.

The best thing about Flounder is her love of water– my kids love water too, so Flounder is a frequent player in all things involving water, at our house. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.”

Happy Tails: Lulu

Cathy Murai Photography sent in these photos of Lulu and her family. Besides just being plain adorable, using the dog to announce the newest member of the family and her interactions with newborn Noah, I think these photos reflect a mindset that I share with the majority of you. Dogs are part of the family and having a baby doesn’t change that.

After a quick inspection, Lulu seems to be saying she approves!
