“We never really own a dog as much as [s]he owns us.” – Gene Hill
Today’s post is a shining example of this. I am happy to share this sweet session sent in by San Diego photographer Heidi from heidi-o-photo of Julie and her BFF (Best Furry Friend) Rodeo, an American Staffordshire Terrier.
From Julie: “Rodeo is a Staffy (Staffordshire Bull Terrier). She is 10 1/2 years old (she doesn’t look it, huh) and she travels with me to work (she is allowed at both of my jobs) and we go on driving trips together. Rodeo has been to Palm Springs, Bear Mountain, and Mammoth many times.
Staffies are known as “nanny dogs”…popular in England and South Africa. They are very loving, purr (you read that right) when they are happy and make a crazy raptor sound when they are scared (which is crazy to hear).
Rodeo loves people and because she goes with me almost everywhere…she knows how to behave and not touch what isn’t hers. He has had other professional photo sessions just because I like to have pics of her.”
Despite being well-trained, Rodeo is always leashed in public because she has been attacked by other dogs off leash. You can see more of Rodeo and Julie on Heidi’s blog and follow Heidi on facebook.
