When we adopted our dog, Theo, seven years ago, we knew he was special. Right away, he loved my kids, and they loved him. Theo started as the “kids’ dog” since we already had two other dogs. However, he quickly won all of our hearts.

Theo is always by our side and makes every adventure a little more fun. Like many dogs, Theo is also very intuitive. He knows when someone needs a buddy during a difficult time. Theo has helped our younger kids cope with everything the teenage years brought. He welcomed my older kids’ spouses and my first grandchild into the family. He makes me laugh every day and has been a perfect quarantine buddy. I wish everyone could have a dog that enriches their life the way Theo does.
He loves to snuggle, chew on his plush toys, play tug, and catch a ball. But his favorite part of the day is probably mealtime.
Since Theo is an integral part of our family, I do my best to keep him healthy and happy.
That includes lots of love, exercise, regular vet visits, and a healthy diet.
I feel good about giving him BLUE Life Protection Formula™ for multiple reasons. I chose the Chicken and Brown Rice Formula because chicken is the number one ingredient. It also contains brown rice, fruits, and vegetables. BLUE Life Protection Formula™ is unique because it has LifeSource Bits®, which contain antioxidants and help support a healthy immune system.
Just as important as the ingredients included is what you won’t find. BLUE Life Protection Formula™ contains NO chicken (or poultry) by-product meals, NO corn, wheat, or soy, and NO artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors. It is also available as wet dog food.
Theo loves the taste! If you have an active dog, you might want to try BLUE Wilderness™, High Protein Grain Free, Natural Adult Dry Dog Food. It has a higher protein content but does not contain soy, wheat, or corn.
Another thing that I love about Blue Buffalo® is its partnership with Sierra Delta. Sierra Delta helps supply service dogs to veterans. My father was in the Army when I was a kid, so we moved pretty frequently. Most of our friends had a family member serving in the military. I think our dogs helped my family transition during our frequent moves. Our dogs gave us a sense of familiarity wherever we went.
One of my siblings served in the military, and currently, I have several nephews in the Armed Forces. So I may be biased, but I think we owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans who risked so much to keep us safe, promote freedom, and protect people worldwide. Unfortunately, many veterans don’t get the service dog they need.
Currently, only about 1 out of 150 veterans can have a service dog partly due to the high cost of obtaining a service dog and too few organizations that help veterans connect and train with the dogs. It breaks my heart to think that those who need a dog the most may not be able to get one.
Sierra Delta offers two types of training for dogs for veterans: Life Buddy or Guide Dogs. Life Buddy dogs can provide emotional support, increased independence, as well as home and public assistance. Life Buddy dogs are only permitted in areas that allow dogs. Guide dogs can be trained to help with daily activity, helping with PTSD, and emergency assistance, and are allowed to go anywhere, even where dogs are not typically permitted.
Blue Buffalo® donates money to help supply service dogs to veterans. In November, buy any BLUE Life Protection Formula™ or BLUE Wilderness™ dry food, and Blue Buffalo® will donate $1 for every small bag of food sold, up to $275,000, to Sierra Delta Service Dogs for Heroes. You can purchase Blue Buffalo® products at Walmart, either online or in the store.

What an absolutely great partnership, dogs can be such great companions to people and help them through awful times.
This is a fantastic partnership! I had no idea that Blue Buffalo partnered with veterans.

I love that they do this for Veterans. We’re a military family, so any company like this is a win in our eyes. The camping looks fun!

Looks like a fun trip! I’m curious: what’s in the first aid kit of your dog? I’m a big advocate for keeping a first aid kit in our vehicles, but I never thought about adding stuff for our animals!
Here’s a link to all the things we have in our dogs’ first aid kit: https://www.dailydogtag.com/living-with-dogs/diy/first-aid-kit-for-dogs/

Such a great campaign. I love it when companies give back. Kudos to Blue Buffalo for making a difference.
It’s so important to take good care of your dog. Buying them the right and healthy food is the first step!

Sierra Delta is such an important cause! I served in the Canadian Armed Forces and while my service was all complete locally, a number of my friends went overseas. Seeing the impact that it had on them moving forward and the lack of assistance that many received when they were struggling was heartbreaking. These are people who are literally willing to give everything, down to and including their lives, for their country and then they come home and are often overlooked. I am glad to hear that Sierra Delta is working to help these veterans connect with the service dogs that they need to enhance their lives.

I love discovering they help veterans! Our cat Prissy is our daughter’s emotional support animal, she just knows when our daughter is having a rough time or when her anxiety is spiking. Prissy has become so important to our family. Although we have a cat instead of a dog, I love Sierra Delta partnering with Blue Buffalo to help veterans so we plan to buy a small bag of dog food and donate it to the local shelter. Thank you for sharing!

That would be a good reason to buy Blue Buffalo dog food for sure. Such a great cause.
I love that Blue Buffalo and Sierra Delta have teamed up to create a mutually beneficial cause for dogs and veterans, providing training and emotional support. Thank you for sharing!
