If you aren’t familiar with Clayton, aka littlehighwaykitten, you’re going to love his story. He belongs to my sister and favorite photographer, Alice G Patterson. Alice is a long time dog-devotee, and now she is also a cat lover. Specifically, she adores Clayton.
Alice rescued Clayton from the side of a highway last summer. I was quite surprised when she texted me a photo of the most bedraggled little kitten ever. It didn’t take long before Clayton achieved the ultimate success. He changed his status from “fostering for a while,” to “forever family member.”

Last fall he started eating NomNom, which he loves!
In November he went in for the big snip, and the vet also removed the scar tissue over his eye.
As you can see, he’s grown into a super handsome cat! Love is the best medicine, but nutrition is important too! Dr. Justin Shmalberg, a vet nutritionist developed all of the NomNom recipes for cats as well as dogs.
NomNom for cats is available in two flavors: Flavorful Fish Feast and Chicken Chow Meow. Both are high in protein as well as water content since cats intake water through their food.
I love how soft and shiny his fur is. Clayton loves the way NomNomNow tastes!
The Flavorful Fish Feast contains:
- Tilapia: Protein, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids for a luxurious coat
- Salmon: More omega-3s, vitamins, and minerals—plus tasty flavor cats love
- Beef fat: A source of choline and unsaturated fatty acids for a healthy coat and skin
- Yuca: Calcium, vitamin C, and minerals galore for strong bones
- Carrot: Beta carotene serves as an antioxidant
NomNom is very convenient and comes in meal-size portioned packages for your pet. Naturally, a smaller pet eats less than a large pet, so the cost varies on the size of the meal. Arriving in a part box/part cooler, NomNom is delivered to your door cold, but not frozen.
You can choose how often you want the food to be delivered: once a week, once every two weeks, or once a month. (If you order more than a week’s supply at once, plan on freezing some of it.) The price goes down slightly if you have fewer deliveries as well as if you have multiple pets. I compared the cost of a month’s worth of Clayton’s NomNomNow (56 meals) to Weruva canned cat food, and surprisingly, NomNomNow is less expensive.
It is always a good idea to transition a cat (or dog) to a new food gradually. Clayton loves the taste, but you can also purchase flavor flakes if your cat is used to another texture and flavor combination.
NomNom also sells probiotics for cats (as well as a different formula for dogs.) Simply add a scoop to your pet’s food once a day to boost your pet’s digestive system, immunity, and overall health.
Most of us know that dogs and cats should not eat the same food, but it is okay for both cats and dogs to eat NomNom treats!
Made of 100% pure USDA-certified chicken or beef, these jerky treats have no other ingredients. It is pretty easy to tear into smaller pieces, making it great for a high reward training treat.
Clayton has been working on his modeling skills for quite a while. He has that blue steel down!
I sometimes have a hard time believing the transformation Clayton has undergone. When Alice first found him, he couldn’t walk without falling over. And while he did suffer severe hip injuries (before Alice found him) he gets around really well now!
In addition to working for treats, Clayton enjoys snuggling with Alice, cuddling with Franny and Darla, watching the squirrels, and spending time outside on a leash.
If you had the choice between canned food and freshly cooked food, which would you rather eat?
