Like most of you, I believe that pets are family. Clayton and Amanda feel the same way about their Labrador Retriever, Chief. Not only was Chief in their engagement pictures taken by Memories By Lexi in Florence, South Carolina, but he was also present for the proposal.
From Lexi: “Some mutual friends had been trying to introduce Clayton and Amanda for several months, but the timing just never quite added up. However, one night while attending a friend’s wedding, Amanda spotted him across the room at the reception. She decided at that moment, that she should introduce herself. Unfortunately, though, as she made her way off the dance floor, she learned he had already gone for the night. Several weeks later, as fate would have it, Clayton reached out to her on social media, and they’ve been together ever since!
Amanda remembers that their first date was at Townhall in Florence. She said that the entire night, Clayton was the perfect gentleman. He wanted the night to be perfect and did every little thing, from opening doors to holding her hand.
When it came time for Clayton to pop the question, he had actually planned to propose during their summer vacation at the lake. The plan was to pick up their dog, Chief, from training and then head down to Wateree for the week. Plans quickly changed when he realized vacation was too far away, and he couldn’t wait any longer to propose to her. He convinced Amanda they should go get Chief a couple of weeks earlier than they had planned. When they got home, they decided to sit on the front porch to enjoy some time together. At that moment, Clayton dropped to one knee and said, ‘Since the family is back together…’ and asked Amanda to marry him. Amanda said it was the sweetest and most intimate proposal!”
From Amanda: “Chief recently turned two. He is a red Labrador Retriever.
Chief loves to duck hunt, go on car rides, and chase squirrels. His favorite treat is cheese. He is very social and lovable and loves to entertain kiddos.”
