Wedding photographer Sandi Rufo has been to a lot of weddings, but this one stands out as one of her favorites. In addition to a gorgeous dog-friendly venue and amazing details, they included their handsome German Shepherd, Argo, for a picture perfect wedding.
From Sandi: “Kayla and John met through a mutual friend while attending a Vets Rock at Brookhaven Amphitheater in 2012. They moved in together in 2014 and adopted their fur baby German Shepherd, Argo just a month later.
Just four days before John was leaving for 18 months of training when he popped the question to Kayla. Of course, she said yes.
Aside from the 98-degree weather at this beautiful outdoor wedding, this was probably one of my all-time favorites. The Peconic Herb Farm is spectacular for a laid-back outdoor wedding. Kayla and John really did their homework on Pinterest with so many details to really make it their own style. It was a photographer’s dream wedding, (except the heat.)”
From Kayla: “My parents’ dog’s name is Roxy, she’s a 7-year-old English Black Lab. She is super mellow and enjoys the company of others. My mom decided that she too needed to be dressed up for the wedding, and a trip to Michaels later, we had made her very own pearl necklace!
My dog’s name is Argo, and he’s a 4-year-old Shiloh Shepherd. We got him in February of 2014. We had to drive 14 hours there and back to bring him into our lives. When we got engaged, I had one simple (well, probably not THAT simple) request: Argo MUST be a part of the wedding.
We were fortunate enough to get married at a venue that was happy to have Argo around, and working with Sandi Rufo, she met my request with enthusiasm. Thanks to my brother’s friend, Argo was able to be there for photos, and my dreams came true.”

Love shepherds, and what a spectacular dog and wedding setting. This is one of my favs!
These pictures are SO sweet! I love that they included their dog in the day!
Those pictures look amazing! I have one of my wedding pictures that a bridesmaid took of me in my wedding dress that had our cat that we had at the time in it. She was actually really chill in the picture which we found hilarious.
These are wonderful photos – beautiful couple! I just love that Argo and Roxy were both included in the wedding. That makes it even more special!
I am reminded of a movie quote, “You want to get married? We already have a dog and everything …” 🙂
I absolutely love these photos! I think it’s so special to have dogs as part of a ceremony!! I love the pearl necklace too!
AW! Always love when pups are int he pics. Also love that green house photo!!
This is so sweet!
This is the most beautiful dog and wedding I’ve ever seen, I’m IN LOVE!! I love that you have a blog dedicated to dogs, it literally makes me soo happy
Wedding shoots are my favorite. I love that Roxy had her own pearl necklace too! Congrats to the happy bride, groom , Argo and Roxy. One happy family. Beautiful.
Lovely! I love seeing pictures of dogs involved in weddings. My fiancé and I are in the early stages of planning our own wedding and just about the only thing we know for sure so far is that we want our two dogs to be involved.
I love these types of photos, so bright and colorful. It’s a joy to look at them! And the dog makes it all even better 🙂
I looooove the idea of people including their pet in their wedding. If you have to invite your second cousin who you haven’t seen in 5 years, then why not invite your dog who you love and see everyday?! lol.
Love this! I would have loved to include our dogs in our wedding day but couldn’t.
Shiloh Shepherds are special. I wonder who got kissed the most…the bride or Argo…lol. Wonderful photos even if it was hotter than hot.
What a beautiful wedding and couple. It is so fantastic that they could include their family pets in their special day. It can’t have been comfortable with that heat! But I love the idea of an herb garden as a wedding venue.
These are just absolutely gorgeous!! I had my huskies in my engagement pictures. We also brought them on our honeymoon. I did not bring them to the wedding. My mom was very sick and I did not want the extra burden on my dad and brother to also watch the dogs.
I think that is wonderful that you were able to include them the engagement photos and the honeymoon! Everyone needs to make the best choice for their wedding, and it sounds like you made a great choice to let your family enjoy the day as much as possible.
So awesome! Not only that they included the dog, but that the venue was welcoming to him as well. Beautiful imagery as always!
These are absolutely stunning! German Shepherds are my other canine love! I wish I had my dogs in my wedding photos (many years ago now!), but am so happy that two of my five Siberian Huskies were in a few of my daughter’s photos. One purely coincidental photo was of my two boys reaching their noses up to sniff her bouquet just as I shot the photo. Priceless. Especially since my one boy crossed the Rainbow Bridge quite suddenly a month and a half later. Our pets truly bring that extra sparkle to a special day.
I’m so glad you were able to get that photo of your dogs and your daughter! I know it must be extra special!
PS – I meant to also comment that I really *LOVE* your new website design!
Thank you! 🙂 Jill did an amazing job!
