Happy 4th of July! This year, we thought we’d celebrate it with a nautical twist. In my hometown, we have fireworks over the river. Our dogs will be safe at home for the fireworks, but we brought them down to the dock a few days ago for a nautical-styled dog photography session. All photos (and styling ) by Alice G Patterson Photography.
These photos were taken on a floating dock which was a new location for the dogs. Some of them were a little nervous , but with some patience and treats, they found their modeling groove.
Alice even made some reversible scarves for the dogs. We’ll have the DIY tutorial for you in an upcoming post.
I love these anchors and buoy that we found on Amazon.
Nelly loves my niece! I found Nelly’s helping paws tank at PetSmart.
I made Theo’s bow tie, and chose to slip it on a regular collar so that we could keep him safe.
Nelly let us know when we were losing the light and it was time to leave! Thanks to our niece, my kids, and Alice’s friend for helping us!

Luv it!
Cute! Theo looks pretty happy! Shiner is used to being on a dock at our lakehouse. She doesn’t seem nervous, unless I jump in the water. Then she starts whining lol.
You have a mighty fine crew aboard your vessel! Those scarves are adorable on the dogs. Very cute all the way around. 🙂
Great photo shoot. I love all of the hand-made collars and they work perfectly with the nautical toys
Great photos! Cute scarves and Theo is just too adorable!
These are amazing!! I love the nautical theme!
Very cute nautical photo shoot. The dogs are adorable, too.
Theo is just too cute for words. And I love Nelly’s decision that ‘hey, it’s time to go’ at the end there 🙂
Beth, thank you so much for the feature… you’re awesome! xoxo
Great pictures! And so much fun!
So cute and fun! Love those neck ties and the anchor toys! Beautiful pics!
Those photos are absolutely adorable! That’s a fantastic idea to have a nautical themed photo shoot! Every one looks so cute in their outfits!
Super cute …. what “gorgeous” models!
Too cute! Our pups haven’t been on a floating dock before, I would imagine they would be okay since we go canoeing all the time.
Theo is such a charmer! I love the shot with the life preserver toy around his neck.
I love the photos soooo much so artfully done! Love the tie pattern too
Thanks! I think Alice is exceptionally talented!
