I’ve always wanted to live near a dog friendly beach and have dogs that love to romp in the water. Since that doesn’t seem likely to happen any time soon, I will just enjoy these photos of Dallas taken by Tiltawhirl Imagery.
From: Rachel and Mark: Dallas is a shelter dog with a North Carolina heart. His mom and dad have transplanted him to the big city that is Washington, DC. Dallas, a 12 year old mutt, loves to play fetch. But even more fun than that is playing fetch in the water. As a surprise for Dallas’ human dad, his human mom brought him up to the local dog beach at Downs Park to have a little photo session.
From Leigh: Dallas has been such an amazing addition to both of our lives and really does complete our little family. He’s now 12 years old and I can’t believe how many adventures and good times we’ve had together! Dallas loves camping and hiking, laying in the sunshine, and chasing tennis balls. He loves to play with other dogs and absolutely loves the water!
Dallas was adopted from Pender County Humane Society in North Carolina when he was about 1 year old. The shelters in that area work together to put out a monthly publication with dogs, cats, and other pets available for adoption called PawPrints Magazine. I was in graduate school at the time and used to memorize that magazine every month, so when Chris told me he was thinking about adopting a dog, I knew exactly which one he should adopt…Dallas! The foster mom told Chris that he had been found behind a local hot dog joint, hanging out and looking for scraps.
Dallas is definitely a mixed breed, but the thing about him that everyone mentions is his brindle coloring. If I were to bet, I would guess that Dallas is a mix of Labrador and Mastiff, but we’ve definitely heard all sorts of theories. Who knows?! But we love him no matter what he’s made up of, because he’s so unique and special.
