We adopted Theo about 3 1/2 years ago, and while I can’t articulate exactly what he means to me, he makes my life better. In the time we’ve had him, he has changed from an overweight, hilarious, goofball to a healthier version who owns our hearts. All photos by Alice G Patterson Photography.
We’re not sure how old he is, the rescue estimated he was four or five when we adopted him. As his face becomes grayer, I want time to stand still. As much as I love senior dogs, I’ll never be ready for Theo’s time with us to end. Hopefully, he has plenty of years ahead of him!
He makes us laugh, and is always in the mood to snuggle. Because we want him with us as long as possible, we keep him from being a complete couch potato, and I feed him a healthy diet.
Choosing a dog food can be confusing, and we trust Natural Balance® for many reasons. First, I always talk to my vet before giving my dog a new brand of dog food. She is a big fan of Natural Balance Pet Food and heartily recommends it. She calls herself a nerd and loves to analyze dog food. After listening to her compare two brands for almost 20 minutes, I realized that she is very serious about pet nutrition. (Luckily, she charges for the visit, not by the hour.)
She likes the high-quality ingredients and the percentages of protein, fat, and a lot of other things that truthfully, went right over my head. Natural Balance is on my short list of trusted brands.
More importantly, Theo loves the taste!
Finally, I really appreciate the Natural Balance Buy With Confidence Promise. It is based on the following four pillars.
From Natural Balance: “We want the absolute best for your pets, so we dedicate ourselves to making sure your pet gets the very best nutrition. We craft each of our formulas with quality ingredients like sweet potatoes, legumes and brown rice, and premium animal proteins such as chicken, lamb, salmon, and venison.”
Just as importantly, there are things that other brands may use, but Natural Balance will never include in their pet food. These include artificial flavors, chemical preservatives, soy, wheat, corn, by-product meals or refined grains. The older I get, the more I realize the importance of keeping the junk out! Somehow, it is a lot easier to make sure that my dogs eat healthy food then it is for me.
Natural Balance puts every batch of its food through nine safety tests. If you are curious to see how the batch you have measured up, you can check it online. With so many pet food recalls, it gives me peace of mind to know that my dog’s food has been rigorously tested.
Natural Balance has a lot of different formulas of dog food. My dogs tried Wild Pursuit last year and loved it. However, there is a lot of protein in Wild Pursuit, and our lifestyle is not super active.
The L.I.D (Limited Ingredient Diet) is great for my pack. With just one protein and limited ingredients, it even works for my allergy prone dog, Nelly. The pet nutrition experts at Natural Balance can help you determine which formula is right for your dog (or cat.)
Natural Balance offers a Buy With Confidence Guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase, they’ll give you a full refund.
My dogs are also big fans of their treats! And so am I, they inspired me to make a cute DIY treat bag for our walks.
