What better way to kick off the weekend then with this image from Kim J. Martin Photography?
From Duffy’s family: “Duffy is most definitely a rescue dog – he was found running on the side of Interstate 5 north of Sacramento around Christmas 2009. We saw him at the county animal shelter, where we were looking for a lab or a golden retriever. He was just so cute, scruffy and charismatic we couldn’t resist bringing him home. We were told he is a Schnauzer mix, but everyone we meet has a different opinion. He appears to be a mix between the original Benji and Sprocket (the dog from Fraggle Rock). We ended up keeping his shelter name because we couldn’t settle on anything we liked better. That said he has more nicknames than you could count on your hands.
Duffy absolutely loved our wedding. He may have had more fun than any of our other guests (and that is saying a lot). We got married in a cabin surrounded by acres of forest, so we allowed Duffy to run around off leash all week. He would check in every so often, go on hikes with the homeowner’s golden retriever, and party in the saloon with our friends. One night, at three in the morning, he walked in through the front door of the salon, walked across the room, nodded to our friends that were still up and went upstairs to bed. Clearly he was living it up. Besides that, Duffy’s signature move is to walk up and place his chin (firmly) upon your knee (or shoulder if your driving) and just sort of hang out and ask for attention. He is a typical dog in that he lives for chasing a ball, wrestling and going for runs next to a bicycle. He is terrified of swimming and appears to have panic attacks (barking, running along the side of the pool or shoreline) when anyone goes for a dip. And the thing that cracks us up more than anything is the constant epic battles he has with the squirrels that run across the fence in our back yard. That’s the stuff that classic cartoons are made of.”
