It seems like summer is the perfect time to reconnect with loved ones. Unfortunately, people often forget cameras or are too busy visiting to take good photos. Naturally, I love that this family chose to work with Nichole Emerson Photography to celebrate a fortieth wedding anniversary in Estes Park, Colorado. Even better? They brought their dogs! (After all, dogs are family too!)
From Nichole: “Kate organized a family trip with her parents to help celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. They got together with six humans and four pups, all very well-behaved. We went to the YMCA property in Estes Park, which has meaning for them because they go there as a summer family tradition.”
In the photos with the four dogs by themselves, left to right, the pups are Toby, Abraham (Abe), Frankie, and Revy.
From the family: “Toby is a 7-year-old black lab who brings joy to every day. He loves his (and any) human, food, walks, and couch.
Abe is three years old. He is a Labrador/Golden Retriever (allegedly) that we rescued from BarkaBull in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From what we understand, Abe was born in Texas.
He’s a great walking buddy and general all-around companion.
Frankie is a seven-year-old Border Collie/Terrier mix. He was adopted from Operation Pets Alive in The Woodlands, Texas.
Frankie is a distemper survivor thanks to the dedicated care of a loving foster mom. He has residual neurological deficits, most notably a resting tremor in his jaw and forehead. Frankie was rescued in Texas when he was ten months old, and he moved to Colorado with his mom six months later. Frankie started his life as a very nervous and timid pup, but he has grown into a loyal and affectionate companion. He loves playing fetch, squeaky tennis balls, going for long runs (up to 10 miles!), and playing tug of war with his brother Revy.
Revy is a two-and-half-year-old Golden retriever/Terrier mix. He was adopted from 2 Blondes All Breeds Rescue in Denver, Colorado.
Revy (named for Revelstoke, British Columbia) was found on the side of the road in Texas with porcupine quills in his face before being taken to a local shelter and ultimately transported in a truck to Colorado. We rescued Revy, originally called Buddy by his foster mom when he was 1.5 years old. He has been the light of our lives ever since! Revy never wants to be anywhere other than by the side of his humans. He greets us very loudly and excitedly anytime we come home. He is a well-meaning goofball!”

God bless those who foster. Dogs are the best pets for the family, hands down (and I have a cat and am saying that, lol). Long story (but we love our cat too). 🙂
Wow, these photos are gorgeous! And the dogs are lovely too 🙂

What a wonderful idea to celebrate 40 years! I love that everyone came together as a family WITH their dogs. Colorado is beautiful and the photo session looks great.
What a marvelous photo shoot. I hope more families see this and go YES we need to do this with our dogs (or cats or bearded dragons!!)
I hope the family are delighted with the results, I am sat here smiling like it’s MY anniversary! Perfect.
Such a lovely family, humans and dogs alike! I feel like you can just tell the dogs are indeed well behaved. In a similar situation, my two dogs would be so excited and probably jumping all over the place, lol!
We have photos similar to there from some of our visits to friends’ horse farm. When all friends and family showed up, it ended up being quite a large dog pack.
What a fabulous family reunion, and I just Love that everyone brought their dogs along! The photo with all the dogs lined up so nicely for a photo is terrific – I wonder if that was an easy shot or if it took some wrangling LOL! Beautiful shots.
Oh, I absolutely love this idea of a family portrait including the dogs! The pups are a handsome pups! What a wonderful memory they captured. And the photos are beautiful.
