I can’t imagine anything more romantic than getting married in a lovely location. The brides, Nina and Jenn, brought their Schnauzer, Chip, to Abiquiú, New Mexico, for their elopement. Everything about this wedding is breathtaking. Amber from Adventure Instead traveled to New Mexico for this beautiful ceremony.
From Amber: “Nina and Jenn were married on October 18, 2019, in New Mexico. They drove to New Mexico from Denver with their Schnauzer, Chip. We met at Ghost Ranch and walked around the property for their portraits. We hiked up to a spot for their ceremony. Chip sat beside them and watched their ceremony like a good boy.
After their ceremony, the three of them watched the sunset at Rio Grande Gorge. As the sunset officially, we made our way back to their hotel, the adorable Hotel Luna Mystica.
We grabbed some wine, wedding cake, and roasted marshmallows on the fire and cheers’d to a perfect day.”
From the couple: “Chip has a huge personality for a little guy! He’s the type of pup that always keeps us on our toes. Whether he’s begging us to play a game of fetch (which he’s not very good at, by the way) or people and dog watching from our living room window, it’s never a dull moment with him. He’s very vocal by nature like all Schnauzers are, so he gets his point across loud and clear! Chip’s ideal day would consist of sunbathing in the morning sun, playing with ALL the squeaky toys, and eating ALL of the cookies!
Since Chip is very good at long walks, we knew he would do well on our elopement day. He loved all the attention he got that day and especially taking pictures with his mommas. He brought us so much love and joy that day and every day. He’s a very good boy, and we couldn’t imagine a life without him.”

I love that more people are choosing to elope in fancy clothes in gorgeous locations, bringing only their dogs and an awesome photographer with them. I hope that this wedding trend will continue for a long time! If you want to elope but are afraid of what your family might say, read this post. As a mom, I always thought I would attend my children’s weddings, but as a romantic, I truly hope at least one of them will have a wedding like this! (As long as they hire a great photographer!)
