I was thrilled when Charlotte Reeves announced she was writing an ebook covering dog photography. Charlotte consistently produces beautiful images and has earned a reputation as one of the best contemporary dog photographers. As a person who shares Charlotte’s belief that every dog deserves great photos, I am ecstatic that she wrote a book that shares her immense knowledge base to help photographers (serious amateurs and pros alike) to achieve better dog photography.
Fetching Photos has ten chapters which run the gamut from technical choices (gear, equipment, shutter speed, and aperture) to working with all types of dog personalities and managing client expectations.
Of particular interest to me was the chapter on choosing locations. Charlotte always finds some of the most amazing and gorgeous locations to shoot! I’m delighted that she shares some of her methods!
In addition to the ten chapters, Charlotte has included two bonus chapters including one very near and dear to my heart: photographing adoptable dogs. This is such an important part of the adoption process. It can sometimes make the difference of life or death for a dog. Charlotte shares how to make the most of a short session for a rescue dog.
I think that almost every photographer will find something valuable in this ebook. As the editor of the Daily Dog Tag, it is my hope that all photographers continue to build their skills and refine their own style. I am excited that Charlotte is sharing her expertise to help other photographers grow and reach new levels of artistry.

I am a big fan of Charlotte’s and am excited to see this news of her book!
Charlotte is a great photographer, and I love all of these images… the action shot of the dog running/fetching through the mud is amazing! I also really love the sweet portrait of the little red dog…he/she is adorable!
This looks like a great book. I have worked with professional photographers who have been great with dogs and who “get it” and those who are awful with dogs and don’t have a clue how to work with them.
